Forging a real connection.
Connection and relationship – those form the foundation of our work together.
As we begin, I find out about your concerns, your child’s interests (and concerns, depending on age), and the areas most important to you. I also want to understand your busy life, what you’ve tried, what’s worked, and what hasn’t worked.
This process will help me to make recommendations that resonate with you and fit your lifestyle.
Making it fun!
Children learn best when they are engaged and having fun!
I find out what motivates and excites your child and make sure to incorporate that into the session. In language therapy, we have lots of opportunities for interesting conversations and games.
Building your child’s confidence…
My work isn’t only about building speech and language skills. I’m also committed to empowering your child and helping them regain their confidence in communication and learning.
In addition to lots of encouraging words, I build in opportunities for your child to experience success throughout each session. I also teach self-advocacy skills to navigate various situations that arise in the classroom and other areas of daily life.
Demystifying the “therapy” process –
My goal is to build your confidence to support your child. I tell you what I’m doing, how I do it, and why.
We will talk about strategies you can use and incorporate into your busy lifestyle.
Finding what works for your family.
We talk about what resonates with you and what doesn’t.
Strategies that don’t fit into your lifestyle won’t be helpful, so we work together to figure out what will be the most beneficial for you and your child.
Recognizing and celebrating progress!
Sometimes, people focus so closely on the destination they don’t see how far they have come. I help you and your child to look for – and notice – progress. Taking time to celebrate growth helps with motivation and confidence!
