Where are sessions provided?

Do you take insurance?
Why would someone pay privately rather than using insurance?
For an insurance plan to cover services, the treatment must be considered “medically necessary,” and your child must receive a diagnosis that can remain on your child’s medical record. This can be beneficial when it comes to obtaining other services. However, some families would prefer to avoid this.
Another consideration is that insurance plans may have criteria for whether a child qualifies for speech-language therapy. Furthermore, insurance companies often limit the number of speech-language therapy visits they cover for a client. I feel strongly that the insurance company has no place in these decisions.
How is private therapy with you different from school therapy?
The school system has specific criteria for who qualifies for speech therapy. Typically, a child must be performing “significantly” below grade level to qualify for speech therapy and must demonstrate an “academic impact” in terms of their ability to access the curriculum.
This requirement means that children could benefit from speech and language services but don’t receive them through the school system because they aren’t performing poorly enough. If a child does receive speech services in the school system, therapy is typically provided in groups. Services may not be individualized because of high caseload numbers.
I tailor each of my therapy sessions specifically to your child. Additionally, I involve you every step of the way, and you’ll be able to seamlessly integrate the concepts we discuss in sessions into your daily life.
Additionally, we can decide together if your child would benefit from additional support. We do not have to wait for them to fail before we intervene.
What is your cancellation policy?
How long will my child need to receive therapy services?
This depends on various factors, including the child’s needs, motivation, family involvement, etc. A child may need speech-language therapy and academic support anywhere from a few months to several years.
Because you are an integral part of the process, we’ll work together to ensure that we see progress. If we need to change an approach, we can address it together. I work closely with you to ensure that we target the areas most important to you.
